Distillerie Bonollo

The perfect example of circular economy.

Distillerie Bonollo are one of the leading companies in the European viticultural distillation.

In 1908 the company was founded by Giuseppe Bonollo and in 1918 his son Luigi moved to Formigine (Modena) and started distilling Lambrusco pomaces. Later his six sons Giuseppe, Melchiorre, Alberto, Luigi, Vittorio and Abramo took care of the business. In 1958 Giuseppe Bonollo understood the great potential of central and southern Italy viticulture and started new plants in Anagni, in Torrita (1976) and in 1980 Giuseppe Bonollo started a second plant in Anagni, which became the largest in Europe. In 2007 the Distillerie Bonollo enter the renewable energy field and in a few years they start Bonollo Energia Spa, a facility with a production capacity of 12 MW to get power out of biomasses: about 60% of them come from the own exhausted pomaces.

Distillerie Bonollo represent a perfect example of circular economy, focusing on four main production lines: spirits, natural tartaric acid, fertilizers and power. Nowadays the fourth generation of the Bonollo family looks ahead and keeps the tradition of Italian distillation alive, thanks to a century old history.
